Today we left Nepal and headed for Vietnam with a 19+ hour layover in Singapore. If you ever have a 19 hour layover, have it in the Singapore Changi Airport.
At first, we were worried how we'd fill our time, not realizing that Changi Airport is less like an airport and more like a self contained, up and coming city with gate announcements.
Upon arrival, we learned that we qualified for $20 each of Changi dollar vouchers to spend anywhere in the airport. Just because we flew Silk Air and had a layover. Feelin’ silky.
We immediately collected our funny money, grabbed an airport guide and decided to live it up in Changi for the night. First stop: popular and famous food stalls.
We fed ourselves chicken and rice and chicken soup. Visited the flower garden. Enjoyed free foot massages. Admired the quality of plants at the Pier Garden. Rated our bathroom experience. Hit up the Koi pond. Smelled the orchids. Ate free Kit Kats on the beach. Saw an ad for a free drink in Terminal 3, so we went to Terminal 3. Took a stroll outside in the sunflower garden. Caught a movie. And slept in the sanctuary garden.
In the morning we feasted on half a dozen donuts and prepared to visit the rooftop pool, play some Xbox and take the Singapore tour bus, but alas, our gate called. And 19+ hours later we were up in the clouds, bound for Hanoi.
